Composite Materials
On this page you can find three calculator; Dry fabric calculator, Weight\Resin Ratio after cured and Resin Hardener Calculator.
Dry Fabric Weight Calculator
This section is useful to calculate the Theorical Dry Fabric Weight.
Before using this calculator, you should know the areal weight of the fiber (Oz square yard for this case), the area of the material (in square inches) and the number of layers. Behind scene the code is taking the Areal Weight and dividing it by 1296. This last number is the convertion between yards to inches. Then the code takes this number and make a multiplication with the area of material that is already coming in inches. Finally, the value is converted to grams.
In case of having similar layers, you can just multiply them by the number of times they are repeted. If you have different layers, add as many as you need using the "Add Another Layer" botton.

Fiber/Resin System Ratio
To use this section you MUST have a result on the Dry Fabric Weight part.
This section is useful for determining the weight and percentage of resin when the piece has been laminated, cured and trimmed. The value of the fiber's weight is brought from the preceding step.

Resin/Hardener Calculator
This section helps know the weight of both resin and hardener you should mix to get a 50:50 fake target in dry layout lamination. Before use it, you need to weight the fabric that is trimed. However, a theorical amount of resin can be calculated if you use the weight given in the first section of this page.
The weight of the fabric should be the same than the weight of the resin system. The resin system is a combination of the resin itself and a hardener that something can be a blend of slow and fast.
